Hospital Consumer Ratings
The Maryland Health Care Commission uses the results of a national survey (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems aka HCAHPS) to find out how satisfied patients are with their hospital. This survey asks patients about their experiences during their hospital stay.
The questions on this national survey cover topics such as how well doctors and nurses spoke with their patients, how clean the hospital was, how pain was treated, and how happy patients were with their time in the hospital. The most recent patient survey showed that Marylanders who gave a high rating for their experience and would recommend their hospital was slightly below the national average:
