Physicians and Nurses

Issues related to physician care are handled by the Maryland Board of Physicians (MBP).  You can also find out if a complaint has been filed against your physician. You can call the MBP at 410-764-4777 or 1-800-492-6836.

The Maryland Board of Nursing handles any complaints related to care provided by a Medication Technician (MT), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Registered Nurse (RN), or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN). Patient Billing

A billing dispute with your health care provider or a coverage dispute with your health insurance company:
The Consumer Protection Division, Health Education and Advocacy Unit of Maryland Attorney General’s Office
Note:  All Maryland hospitals are required to have an appeal process in place to address patient billing concerns.  If your concern is about a hospital bill, contact the finance or patient accounts office.
