Specialized Cardiac Services Data Collection

MHCC collects cardiac data from 27 acute care hospitals (3 in Delaware, 1 in Washington D.C., and 23 in Maryland) who perform primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) services. Hospitals providing PCI services have been required to participate in the National Cardiovascular Data Registry (NCDR), a data collection tool developed by the American College of Cardiology. The two registries that MHCC requires participation in are the ACTION registry and the CathPCI registry. Regulations regarding this requirement can be found here:

Maryland Hospital Enrollment in the ACTION Registry

Maryland Hospital Enrollment in the CathPCI Registry

Hospitals participating in these registries pull their data and outcome reports and send it to MHCC using the QMDC portal in line with this submission schedule.

These instructions cover both how to retrieve data from NCDR and also how to upload them to the QMDC, as well as basic file formatting specifications for the QMDC.

A cardiac data coordinators meeting is held at MHCC on the second Tuesday of February, May, August, and November.
