Project Philosophy

The Maryland Health Care Commission’s vision for Maryland is to ensure that informed consumers hold the health care system accountable and have access to affordable and appropriate health care services. The Maryland Health Care Quality Reports website is designed to facilitate informed decision making by consumers through public reporting.

For public reporting of health care information to be effective, the information must be meaningful, timely and easily understood by consumers. MHCC contracted with a market research firm in late 2013 to solicit consumer ideas and feedback on the content, display and functionality of the website and to identify areas for improvements and possible expansion.  Eight focus groups were held between December 2013 and November 2014.
